Canada's online casino market continues to mature

Canada's regulated online casino market is continuing to develop. Since iGaming Ontario (iGO) launched its framework in April 2022, the number of registered operators has grown steadily, and each platform tends to bring its own emphasis on slots, live casino, or sports betting. For players this means more choice, though it also makes sense to look beyond a welcome bonus when deciding where to play.

What stands out in recent months is the increasing variety among operators. Where early attention focused primarily on large international names, platforms with a clear identity and more focused game libraries are now finding their footing. Players report that they value a clean, well-organised experience and reliable withdrawal timelines above all else.

At the same time, topics such as responsible gambling, transparent bonus terms, and responsive customer service are carrying more weight across the industry. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) continues to monitor advertising standards and operator conduct, which encourages clearer communication from all parties about what players can expect. Whether the current trend toward more specialised platforms continues will depend largely on how players share their experiences over the coming months. We will be keeping a close eye on it and will report back in a future update.
